volunteer opportunities

BPOElks is a membership organization that runs almost exclusively on the supporting volunteerism of its members.  If you're a member, we value and depend on your help!

We like to match volunteers with things that fit them best:

• Serving at the Lodge or from home
• Serving once a month, once a week, or as much as you want
• Working by yourself, or connecting with people.  

What role listed below fits you best?

When you work with charities you can be helping Veterans, kids, families, the homeless, the elderly, and all focused on North County and Vista.  The roles needed can include working from home or at the Lodge, or representing Vista Elks at other charitable organizations.  The time involvement can be as little as 4-5 hours a month.

Lodge Leadership need not be as daunting as it sounds.  After 150+ years of existence, BPOElks has created a leadership development model that takes work and life responsibilities into account.

We're looking for men and women that are enthusiastic about the Order, along with a desire to keep the local Lodge healthy for future generations.  

Contact ER David for specific leadership opportunity positions. Time involvement averages 3-4 hour per week.

Our F&B department does have a few paid positions but many of our greeters, cooks, additional kitchen staff, and wait staff volunteer as a way of helping out the Lodge.

There are plenty of roles that fall under our F&B area.  If you're interested in helping out, your time involvement can be as little as 5-6 hours a month, or more, if you wish.

• Saturday and/or Sunday Cooks
• Kitchen Assistants
• Greeter
• Food Runner

Communications is a critical part of the functionality of our Lodge.  It's how our members stay connected.  Areas of help can be as simple as maintaining Lodge calendars, keeping information portals up to date, preparing information for upcoming monthly newsletters, etc. Most of these jobs can be done from home.

Time involvement averages 3-4 hour per week, depending on the position.

• Member Email Blasts, and Email registry maintenance
• Calendars Administration
• Lodge App and Websites
• Newsletter Content 
• Newsletter Layout and Design

We're very fortunate that our Lodge has a number of talented tradesmen.  Much of the work of maintaining our facility is done by our members, saving the Lodge money.  If you have a particular trade skill, we would like to know what it is so we can add the information to our database.  If you're handy, be sure to let us know!

The time commitment depends entirely upon the job that is being done.

• If customers can’t find it, it doesn’t exist. Clearly list and describe the services you offer. Also, be sure to showcase a premium service. Administrative Skills are more than data entry and making copies.  There are a variety of skill sets needed for Admin, including being organized, detailed, helping with event setup, helping with inventory, and membership areas.  

Time involvement averages 3-4 hour per week, depending on the position, sometimes more if it's for a specific event.
